Case Study
Aston Martin Bonnet
After working with Aston Martin on the hood for the James Bond DB10, Whiston Industries were approached by Aston Martin to develop tooling capable of producing the even larger clamshell bonnet on their new DB11. The problem was that no mill could produce the aluminium blank wide enough for the design.
Taking the largest blank size available, Whiston Industries reverse engineered to simulate and manufacture tooling to produce the component, maintaining part design and requisite panel quality. Following this successful program, Whiston Industries have produced further tooling for the DB11, Vantage and DBX models, including hood outers, hood inners, roof, door outers, door inners and bodyside.
